WALTHAM, MA — Students will be dismissed early from Waltham High School as temperatures are expected to hit 97 degrees in town Monday, according to Superintendent Brian Reagan.
"It's our only building without air conditioning," Reagan said.
The district said it plans to let high school out at noon. As of 10 a.m. temperatures were already in the upper 80s.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday won't be much better, with temperatures dipping a notch to 93. Wednesday, forecasters expect it to reach a "mere" high of 88.
The high school has had some upgrades for the pandemic, but it is the only school building without air conditioning. Reagan did not say whether the school would let out early Tuesday, as well.
