QUINCY, MA — A 19-year-old Brockton man died after being pulled from the water at Mound Street Beach in Quincy Sunday.
Police responded to a call around 2:15 p.m., according to the Boston Globe, which first reported this story. Two recreational divers also helped in the search after a swimmer was reported going in but not reemerging. Elissandro Silva, 19, of Brockton, was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth where he was pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m.
Silva is one of at least six people who drowned in Massachusetts since Friday. That included Worcester police Officer Enmanuel Familia also drowned in a pond while trying to save a 14-year-old boy, Troy Love, who also died.
