Woman Assaulted Along Assabet River Rail Trail In Marlborough

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A woman fought off an attacker along the Assabet River Rail Trail in Marlborough early Monday morning, and police have released a video clip of the man taken by the victim. The incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. Monday along the trail near Fitchburg Street and Sasseville Way. The man grabbed the 40-year-old woman by the neck and pushed her onto the ground, police said. "The victim screamed loudly and fought to defend herself as the suspect tried to pull off some of her clothing," Marlborough police said. "The victim was able to break free from the suspect who then turned and ran in the opposite direction towards the Fitchburg Street intersection." The woman suffered minor injuries to her mouth and leg, but was able to take a short video of the attacker running away. You can watch the 13-second clip the attacker on the Marlborough police Facebook page. The woman told police the attacker was a white man in his 30s with blue eyes, brown hair and a facial piercing. He was wearing a blue flannel shirt and cargo shorts. In the video, a tattoo can be seen on the man's calf. Anyone with information should contact Marlborough police Det.
