WAUKESHA, WI— A man was shot over the weekend in Waukesha but details on the incident are scarce. Police were called to a hospital Sunday afternoon after a man suffered a gunshot wound. Police say the man only told them he was shot "somewhere in Waukesha." Officers met with the man who they say was uncooperative and not providing consistent information. The investigation continues in the area of Hinman, Jackson Court and Newhall, police said. Police ask anyone with information to call police at 262-524-3831. The Waukesha Police released this statement: "We are not identifying this as a shooting as we can only confirm that a male presented with an injury consistent with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. About two weeks ago a story was run with inconsistent information by a media outlet. Please be mindful that we will release accurate, vetted and verifying information in a timely manner. Jumping to a conclusion is like calling fire in a movie theater. We will inform the public when we have correct information. No further information will be released at this time."
