FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham public works officials this week will update residents on a major roadway project in the Nobscot area at the intersection of Edmands and Edgell roads and Water Street. Work on the project began this spring, coinciding with the redevelopment of the former Nobscot shopping plaza at the southeast corner of the intersection. But the intersection design has undergone several changes since the project — funded by a $3.4 million MassWorks grant — was first proposed. At a March meeting, officials unveiled a new intersection design that did not include a right turn lane along northbound Edgell onto Water Street. Planners found there wasn't enough room with a dedicated left turn lane, and that a right-turn only lane might cause long backups, among other factors. The virtual meeting on design plans will be held Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. You can find details on how to watch at the DPW's website.
