Marquette Requires Students To Be Vaccinated For Fall Semester

MILWAUKEE, WI — Marquette University announced Monday that its students will be required to get their coronavirus vaccinations before the fall semester begins. All undergraduate, graduate and professional Marquette students who are attending classes during the academic semester will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by August 1, the school said. "Scientific evidence has shown that vaccines are safe and effective at reducing transmission of the virus," university president Dr. Michael Lovell said. "A vaccinated student population will allow us to provide you with a richer in-person experience, reduce testing and let you interact more freely across campus." Students will need to provide proof by uploading their vaccination cards to a university online portal when they get their shots. Lawrence University announced it would require its students 16 and up to show proof of coronavirus vaccination to access and live on its campus. So far these are the first two schools to require vaccinations for their students. Larger systems like the University of Wisconsin haven't announced similar policies yet.
