FREDERICKSON, WA — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department's SWAT team and K9 units were called in to resolve a standoff situation in the Frederickson area late Sunday night. Just before 9 p.m. Sunday night deputies warned the public they would be blocking off several roads near the 3600 of 181st St E, where they were investigating a domestic violence incident. According to the sheriff's department, the suspect refused to communicate with negotiators. It's unclear how long the investigation stalled, but ultimately the department chose to call in their SWAT team and K9 unit to clear the building. Once inside, the sheriff's department says their teams found the suspect hiding in a small closet. He was then cleared by medics and has been booked into the Pierce County jail.
