TOWSON, MD — Multiple schools in Baltimore County will be closing three hours early Monday. Officials with Baltimore County Public Schools made the announcement Monday morning.
Citing a lack of air conditioning, authorities announced the following schools will close early Monday, June 7:
Deer Park Middle Magnet School, 9830 Winands Road, Randallstown, MD 21133 Owings Mills Elementary School, 10824 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117 Prettyboy Elementary School, 19810 Middletown Road, Freeland, MD 21053Seneca Elementary School, 545 Carrollwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21220Sparks Elementary School, 601 Belfast Road, Sparks, MD 21152Towson High School, 69 Cedar Avenue, Towson, MD 21286 Temperatures are expected to hit 90 degrees and will feel like 96 degrees on the heat index Monday afternoon, according to the Towson forecast from the National Weather Service.
All afternoon and evening activities are canceled at the schools that are closing early, officials said.
Earlier, power outages at two schools also shifted plans there.
General John Stricker Middle School at 7855 Trappe Road in Dundalk is closing at noon due to a power outage. Afternoon and evening activities are canceled.
A power outage at Owings Mills High School shifted instruction to all virtual Monday.
