POTOMAC, MD ā Montgomery County Police are investigating the drowning of a 26-year-old man in the Potomac River.
Franky Smith Gonzales Sapaico ā who was from Springfield, Virginia ā was swimming near Scott's Run on May 31 when he went underwater and didn't resurface, a police news release says. Police were dispatched, but his body was not found. They continued the search until June 3.
County Police and the Montgomery Fire Department responded to calls when Sapaico's family members found his body in the river around 5 p.m. on June 4.

He was found on the Maryland side near the shoreline, just past the American Legion Bridge, Piringer tweeted.
