2 Women Charged In CT Capitol Suspicious Package Case

HARTFORD, CT — Two women — a 19-year-old from Manchester and a 30-year-old from North Stonington — have been charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a suspicious package incidents on the grounds of the Connecticut Capitol. The investigation dates back to April 1, when the packages were located on the Capitol property, according to an arrest report. The Stonington resident was identified in an arrest report as Olivia Rinkes and the Manchester resident was identified as Erin Melocowsky. They were arrested on Sunday and Monday, respectively, state police said. The women are due in court on June 28 after posting $5,000 bonds, according to an arrest report. State Capitol Police said in April said they received information that several suspicious packaged were left on the Capitol grounds. "The investigation is currently underway with assistance from the Connecticut State Police," the statement said. "Initial investigation showed that the package contained nothing of a safety concern for the public or Capitol grounds."
