GREENWICH, CT — On Tuesday, June 8, Greenwich Freemasons, Acacia Lodge No. 85, invite the public to join them between 6:30-7:30 p.m. before their meeting to learn more about Freemasonry and meet members of the Lodge. According to a news release, attendees will have an opportunity to see the fraternal organization's set-up, gain a greater understanding of Freemasonry, hear about the charitable work being done and ask Acacia Lodge No. 85 members questions. The meeting location is on the upper floor of the St. Lawrence Society, 86 Valley Rd., in Cos Cob. While men and women are welcome to the open house, the Greenwich Freemasons are a fraternal organization with male members only, the news release said. Acacia Lodge No. 85, also known as the Greenwich Freemasons, was formed in 1857 in Greenwich. Freemasonry, the world's oldest extant fraternal organization, provides a social environment with an opportunity for members to build character through both education and a focus on service to others. "Greenwich Freemasons strengthen their relationships with their families, in their neighborhoods and become leaders within the community of Greenwich, Connecticut," the news release said. Acacia Lodge No. 85 meets the second Tuesday of each month at the St. Lawrence Society in Cos Cob. They are known for local service projects such as donating 100 Christmas Trees to Neighbor to Neighbor for the past several years.
