The hospitalization count is at its lowest mark ever. Plus, the percent positivity is at a record low. Last week's 54 cases are down 89 from the week prior. This was the first time the county tallied less than 100 new infections in a week since March 2020. This is also the fifth straight week that Anne Arundel posted less than 500 cases in a seven-day span. Before this stretch, the county hadn't accomplished the feat since the week before Halloween. A 2.5-month spike followed the holiday. That surge ended in January. The county has since recorded less than 1,000 new cases for 16 straight weeks. The virus also killed five county residents last week, which is 24 fewer than the seven days prior, the Maryland Department of Health said. This number is inflated because health officials two weeks ago reviewed several likely coronavirus deaths and determined that the disease was what truly took these lives.
