MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A private plane crash-landed on a road in Robbinsville Township Sunday, after the pilot experienced "mechanical failure," police said. On Sunday, June 6 around 5 p.m. police received a 911 call about a plane crash at the intersection of Gordon and Sharon Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the pilot walking around the area, mostly unharmed. The pilot was identified as a 47-year-old man from East Windsor, and the plane was a 1966 Piper aircraft, police said. According to the police, the pilot took off from Robbinsville Airport shortly before the crash but experienced "some sort of mechanical failure," before making an emergency landing. The pilot sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for back pain.
