Description

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Scudder Falls Bridge will be reduced to a single travel lane this week for New Jersey-bound drivers, who should expect delays during the high-traffic hours of 6 a.m.-10 a.m. on weekdays. Similar lane restrictions will likely be frequent this month, according to an alert by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission. This week, delays are expected on I-295 eastbound between PA Route 332/Newtown-Yardley Road interchange and the Scudder Falls Bridge. Pennsylvania-bound drivers using the bridge should be unaffected. Bucks County residents heading to New Jersey or to the Trenton-Mercer Airport are advised to consider the following options if they plan on using the bridge during weekday mornings through Friday, June 11: Use earlier departures Allow more time to reach destinations Work from home Postpone travel Use an alternate route like the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge Lane restrictions on the Scudder Falls Bridge will allow for the delivery and pouring of concrete onto the new parallel bridge span downstream. Concrete pours of this kind can only occur in favorable weather, and are designed in a sequence corresponding to the bridge's steel structural supports. The new bridge is expected to open partially to traffic in late summer or early fall. Read more about the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project here.
