LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange, including unincorporated La Grange Highlands, saw its coronavirus rate drop, according to the Cook County Public Health Department. As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,309 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 20 from a week before, or a 0.8 percent increase. That was up from the previous week's 1.6 percent hike. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 34. The four latest deaths were May 24, May 22, May 14 and Feb. 13. All the local deaths have been those who were 61 or older, according to the medical examiner. The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.5 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.
