WOODBURY, MN — A 14-year-old boy was killed late Saturday night after shots were fired Saturday night in the 6100 block of Edgewood Avenue in Woodbury, police in the St. Paul suburb said.
People in the area around 10:46 p.m. told Woodbury police a white SUV was involved in the shooting before it fled the area, and police said a dark SUV or truck may have also been involved.
The boy was taken to Regions Hospital after the shooting, and later died, police said. His identity had not been released as of Sunday morning. No one else was injured, according to police.
Woodbury police Public Information Officer John Altman said the officers found anywhere from 30-40 people in the area in what appeared to be a graduation party at a nearby residence. Several houses on Edgewood Avenue were hit by the gunfire, Altman said in a news release.
The 911 call that was made included people screaming, with one person stating "Help me," Altman said. Police from Oakdale, Maplewood, St. Paul and Washington County have helped Woodbury police in the investigation.
The case remains open, with no arrests made as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
