Description
EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Public Library is partnering with over 20 Illinois libraries to offer a free steaming of the award-winning documentary film, "The Long Shadow," during the week of June 21 to June 28.
Teens and adults may also join the Q & A with director Frances Causey, at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24, on Zoom.
Former CNN reporter Frances Causey traces slavery's history from America's founding through its insidious ties to racism today. Causey and co-creator Maureen Gosling, two white southern filmmakers, travel the roads of oppression and suppression to reveal the connections of slavery and strong-arm Southern politics to the current racial strife in America. The film is a disturbing story about the lingering human cost of ignorance, intolerance, and inaction in the United States, casting a long shadow over our national identity and imperfect democracy.
Call 708-422-8522 to register or on the library's website.
