19-Year-Old Charged With 3 Felonies In Woodman's Shooting

NORTH AURORA, IL — A 19-year-old man is charged with multiple felonies in connection with a shooting that injured two in a Woodman's Market parking lot last week. Authorities said David M. Williams of North Aurora was charged Friday with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. North Aurora police said in a news release that Williams arranged a meeting in the parking lot at around 5:30 p.m. on June 1 to buy marijuana. Once he entered the car, officials said he brandished a weapon and demanded marijuana. According to police, a struggle over the gun followed until a man in the back seat was shot in the leg and the driver was shot in the neck. During a bond court hearing, officials said Williams attempted to help the man who'd been shot in the leg before fleeing the scene. While waiting for emergency personnel, a nearby person placed a tourniquet on the wounded man's leg before he was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old, is in critical condition at a hospital for the gunshot wound to his neck. According to police, Williams was hiding in an apartment on the 1800 block of Oak Street when he was taken into custody. His bail was set at $250,000, and he is scheduled back in court on June 16.
