Summary: The irrigation technician is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of both assigned properties. This position is responsible for ensuring that the irrigation system is properly maintained and operating at peak efficiency. Essential Function: • Install irrigation timers, piping and valves • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation pipe and fittings, sprinklers heads • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and central irrigation control computers • Perform general and seasonal system maintenance • System start-ups, evaluation, and winterization • Perform back-flow tests; Test irrigation systems for proper functioning of valves and timers; Record detailed inspections • Read diagrams and blueprints to layout and locate irrigation valves, timers and wiring • Locate, excavate and repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning equipment • Responsible for the purchasing of repair parts, keeping accurate inventory • Keep work vehicle and equipment clean and organized • Think critically to solve problems and complete repairs with minimal impact to lawn or landscape • Effectively assess water efficiency and make adjustments to quickly correct over or under watering • Be proactive with diagnosing and repairing any irrigation issues • Complete daily paperwork as required by each job • Perform accurate and timely record keeping • Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers • Brings problems to the attention of the irrigation service manager, safety director or HR manager • Must uphold company policies, procedures and company core values at all times • Other duties as assigned • Must uphold company policies, procedures, and company core values at all times. Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction or landscape job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
