(2) Day Festival is seeking a Master Electrician/Electrical Engineer to coordinate electrical needs for several areas of the festival. Festival is on 9/4/21-9/5/21. Load In 9/3/21 & Load Out 9/6/21 NATURE OF THE POSITION The Master Electrician is responsible for the engineering of all electricity to ensure all equipment has adequate power to meet the needs of the Bar/Distribution Tent, Entrance, Headquarters and VIP Tent. Additionally, the ME will lead the installation, repair, supervision, and striking of all electrical systems within the designated areas of the Festival. The ME will test, troubleshoot and replace electrical components to ensure all designated systems function safely and efficiently. The ME will also be responsible for renting generators, distro cables, spider boxes, cable trays, diesel fuel for generators, etc. and purchasing tent lighting, extension cords and more. Due to the nature of the site, the electrical distribution will rely heavily on generators. The ME should have substantial familiarity with commercial generators, as well as access to generator rentals. The ME should also provide their own crew of electricians to fulfill and execute on the scope of work. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ● Must be able to commit to all required meetings and activities pertaining to the festival as required. ● Must be able to conduct oneself in a professional manner ● Licensed in the State of Maryland ● Extensive knowledge in electrical installation at festivals and events ● Knowledge of policies, regulations, and responsibilities of the festival ● Scheduling expertise ● Knowledge of staging, lighting and production ● Extensive knowledge of Types of 4 Prong Plugs, Two Primary Phases used in Festivals and events, Gauges needed for given amperes and what various amps will provide. ● Experience managing a team, including interviewing and hiring ● Experience installing electrical at festivals, venues and events. ● Portfolio of event successes that highlight an ability to plan and coordinate ● Comfortable with computer systems including Google drive/teams, MS Office, Email, Dropbox, Zoom ● Ability to communicate quickly and effectively with a wide range of people across many platforms, including email, text, phone, and in person ● Valid Driver’s License and Good Driving Record ● Ability and knowledge to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks in a timely manner, prioritize effectively, problem solve and organize workload efficiently ● Knowledge and Familiarity with ADA and OSHA compliance ● Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills ● Collaborative attitude ● Attention to detail ● Must be able sit, stand, walk for long periods of time ● Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds ● Must be able to work effectively using ladders, lifts and scaffolding ● Self-motivated: the ability to work well independently and take initiative for tasks ● Positive attitude and persistence in all team efforts ● Ability to effectively connect, communicate and work with a wide range of people ● Initiative to develop and improve policies and procedures DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: ● Ensures smooth operation of the Electrical load in, load out and operation of the designated areas of the festival. ● Manage and operate within electrical budget ● Secure, rent, and/or purchase all generators, distro, cable trays, spider boxes, extension cables, lights, etc ● Ensure that all portable generators are installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. ● Ensure that all extension cords and cables are grounded and not placed over walking surfaces without proper covering devices. ● Safely and efficiently install all electrical elements at the festival stages, food booths, and other spaces including sponsor activations, exhibitions, and more. ● Place and operate all self-generating light towers. ● Communicate any issues with food vendors via phone or email ● Repair electrical issues during the festival in a timely manner and report all issues to TD or OD. ● Attend bi-weekly / weekly staff meetings May - October to ensure all staff are briefed on technical aspects of the festivals and progress towards established goals. ● Attend all necessary general meetings with suppliers, vendors, sponsors, etc. ● Attend all required production meetings ● Operate within the confines of the Entertainment budget. ● Maintain open communication with Festival management and other team members ● Hire Electrical assistants and supervise/delegate tasks to them ● Other duties as assigned. Pay based on experience and interview.
