Fiberutilities Network Services (FUNS) is adding to the team! FUNS is looking for a Network Field Technician to service the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) for SW Des Moines, IA and surrounding communities. Network Field Technicians perform installation/upgrades and disconnects on voice, data, transport & video networks in schools, universities, and Iowa state-owned institutions. Experience with fiber optics, routers, and switches and related equipment is preferred. Essential Duties: • Service the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) performing installations/upgrades and disconnects • Perform ISP installation and maintenance of voice, data, video, transport, and power systems • On-site diagnosis of analog video/audio; test and turn up of circuits • Configure Cisco and Juniper Routers. Assist in the turn up of routers, switches and services for customers • Troubleshoot TDM, SONET, CWDM and DWDM transport devices, Private Line, Ethernet, Frame Relay, and ATM carrier services, voice switches, modems, Ethernet switches and routers • Escalate to additional field personnel for outages/maintenance assignments and also contacting partnering telecommunications carriers in the network for fault resolution • OSP contractor management of fiber restoration, underground and aerial repair work • Ensure all OSP and ISP safety practices are followed Job Requirements: • Associate degree in network/telecom, or a related field, preferred • 1-3 years of related telecom field experience • Technical training and/or certification is highly desired • Experience with Cisco CCNA, TDM, SONET, Ethernet vendors, fiber optics, OSP, ISP, cable plant splicing, and similar technologies, desirable • Valid driver’s license and good driving record in good standing If you are hard-working, client-focused individual who enjoys variety in your day, apply today!
