HGGHH Youth Cooking Program with Chef Frank Brigtsen Chef Brigtsen is the co-owner of Brigtsen’s Restaurant. He has been named by Food & Wine as ‘One of America’s Top Ten New Chefs,’ ‘Chef of the Year’ by New Orleans magazine’s annual poll, and ‘American Express Best Chef: Southeast’ by the James Beard Foundation. He is Adjunct Professor at The John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University and Chef-in-Residence at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA). Join us for a cooking demo and conversation about his rise to one of the biggest names in New Orleans food. *Partial funding provided by Jazz & Heritage After-School and Summer Education Programs in Music, Arts and Cultural Traditions. This category supports after-school and summer educational arts programs offered by nonprofit organizations and Louisiana K-12 schools. Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses, managed by The Woman’s Exchange, preserves two 19th-century French Quarter homes and, through their architecture, collections, and history, inspires discourse about our collective past and its relevance to our present and future. Visitors, students, and researchers explore such diverse topics as the lives of the houses’ owners and enslaved people, free people of color, open-hearth cooking, mourning rituals, and the entrepreneurial pursuits of women.
