Question on getting an animal back if it’s already been rehomed.

I’m going to keep it short here the title says most of it. But is it possible to get an animal back if they’ve been rehomed but you’ve realize you were completely fooled on who the people were? I know I know send nasty messages blame me for not doing my research first. But that’s just it I did. And everything checked out perfect until the lady sent me a msg that I don’t think was meant for me and long story short the home we went to wasn’t theirs and just so much more. Please help!
