This event is to highlight the effects of mass incarceration and to honor formerly incarcerated fathers.
To honor our incarcerated loved ones, girls between the ages of 7-19 will reveal photos titled “Shades of Beauty. The photos will reflect the true faces of what incarceration looks like from the eyes of the one's society forgot-the children. Society didn’t think about the effect of mass incarceration on children when they labeled our fathers or mothers as inmates or prisoners. They simply said, “you’ll end up in prison just like your mother or father”. Their photos will show how children impacted by parental incarceration are beautiful, vibrant individuals with bold personalities and natural hair.
