Visit the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center and learn about the flora and fauna of the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve! The City of Lancaster’s Prime Desert Woodland Preserve Interpretive Center is the result of many hardworking people from all walks of life, however, the Center is dedicated to the memory of one Lancaster resident: Elizabeth “Elyze” Clifford, the activist that rallied a coalition to preserve the special and unique desert woodland area that you can visit today. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All attendees must adhere to the center's rules, which includes no touching of any artifacts, surfaces, or persons not in their immediate family. Each guest must wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth in accordance with the City of Lancaster's face covering ordinance (Ordinance No. 1074) and maintain a social distance of at least 6 ft from persons not in their immediate family group. Guest are encouraged to use these sanitizer stations frequently. The Center will also be sanitized every hour with products approved by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Interpretive Center is dedicated to strengthening awareness, enhancing accessibility, and igniting the appreciation of art, history, and culture in the Antelope Valley through dynamic exhibitions, innovative educational programs, creative community engagement, and a vibrant collection that celebrates the richness of the region.
