Possibly The Best Concrete Finisher 1 Job Ever
Jobs
Mauldin SC
Description
How ‘bout we get right to the piece de resistance? Our client's small growing business is in Mauldin, SC. We are biased — but it's the coolest place to work, ever. And we know and believe that Precision Concrete is making a difference in the lives of their customers (you will see what we mean when you check out their website! www.standonprecision.com). Honestly, the job is not all roses, and it does require hard work — there is some good news and some bad news. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: • The pay is not top tier and may not compare to that of their competitors, meaning, they are still in the building phase but if you find value in being with a company from the ground floor and being a part of its growth and success then this may be the job for you. • Review point 1. Now let’s talk about the good stuff: 1. Your office will be in many backyards. Just think of the fresh air and beautiful weather you will experience - yeah, that’s right, basically everyday will be a blank canvas. One day it’s sunny and you may feel like you’re on vacation and other days fighting off the blistering cold may have you reconsidering your decision. Okay, so the cold weather maybe not be the greatest, but there are some (truly) great things... 2. The work is fun, fresh and challenging. You will be working directly for the owner, Ryan, and helping him with a mix of projects and support. 3. Precision isn't big on stress. So, while the expectation is to work efficiently and get things done, the focus is open communication and getting things done right the first go around. 4. You will experience things, do things, and give input on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do. You will be able to give input to the work that you do. 5. After a year, you get to share in their profits. Hellz yeah, you read that right!!! All our employees who have worked for more than one year will get a raise. Cha-ching-ga!!! Now, let’s talk about the job requirements: 1.You need to be the type of person who enjoys getting things done. Every day, you will bang out a list of stuff. Big stuff. Small stuff. Important stuff. 2. You will spread concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel. Level concrete to specified depth and workable consistency with handheld screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping. 3. You will smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete. Finish concrete surfaces or wets and rub concrete with abrasive stone to import finish. Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. 4. Mold expansion joints and edges. Sprinkle colored stone chips, powered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish. Produce rough concrete surface with broom. 5. Mix cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine. Direct subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms. Break up and repairs old concrete surfaces. Able to set up and operate Skid Steer, Power Trowel, Tiller and other equipment to specification. 6. You need to nail down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half- assed. We figured that one out ourselves). We need you to slow things down and get them done right. 7. We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you are shy or quiet (which sounds perfect for us) that is totally cool. We are not looking for the life of the party…in fact, quite the opposite. We are looking for a good, fun person, who gets shit done. (Oh, and we occasionally swear at the office…not much…but sometimes a joke is only funny with an F-bomb). 8. To fit in with us a minimum of 1-3 years of pouring concrete and finishing would be helpful. Transportation to work and the ability to show your strength by lifting loads up to 80-100 lbs. Hopefully high school was fun for you and you walked away with your diploma/GED in hand since it’s something we require. We’ll even offer a chance to make more money by working overtime and possible weekends. And problem solvers are a plus. Now for the formalities, must pass a drug test. Must pass a background check. Must show up to work on time. In short, your job is to assist Ryan with Precision Concrete in any way you can. And to have fun and be productive at work (who wants a job that isn’t fun?!?). Our office is casual, a good pair of steel-toe boots is a must. As a rule, we expect professionalism and punctuality. If this is a job that gets you so excited this is what we offer: A full-time, Concrete Finisher job. The pay is $15-22 an hour and the work week will be 40 hours a week, some Saturdays included. In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow processes and procedures. In fact, just to prove that you are detailed oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position, in the subject line of the email you must include “I want to be a part of the team” in the subject line. Yep, that’s our little trick to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everyone, from the folks (that’s you) who are truly interested in this position. Precision is looking to bring their new colleague on board as soon as possible, but will spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culturally.
