Happy Monday, Myrtle Beach! The rain isn't going away, so I'm giving you some stories to help brighten your day! Today, I'll tell you about the end of the burn ban in some areas of Horry County, the success of this weekend's Sun Fun Festival, several gunshots were heard in MB but no one was hurt, a bunch of ducklings were saved from a storm drain, and some tips for those of you planning ahead for Independence Day celebrations along the Grand Strand. But first, here's a glimpse of today's weather: The showery pattern continues with overcast skies, high 81, low 72. Today's top 5 news stories for the Grand Strand area: Thanks to some long-overdue rain, Horry County has lifted the burn ban that was previously initiated in some areas due to drought conditions. Residents, as always, must still follow burning regulations. (WMBF)Myrtle Beach's Sun Fun Festival was a big hit this past weekend, despite scattered thunderstorms and high humidity. It was great to have the festival back again after it was cancelled in 2020. (WMBF) Gunshots were heard and reported in Myrtle Beach Saturday evening. No injuries were reported, but a damaged vehicle was discovered. An investigation is in progress by police while details remain unclear. (WBTW)Horry County Fire Rescue Station 1, with the help of a mama duck, saved a couple of baby ducklings from a storm drain in Socastee. The mother of the ducklings was reportedly quacking to help rescuers coax the babies out of the drain. (WBTW) Will it be the Marshwalk, or Broadway at the Beach?
