Description
There is very little joy in SkyTown right now. The Chicago Sky's woes continued as they dropped their seventh straight game. This time, the Los Angeles Sparks took a 68-63 victory, for their third win over the Sky in eight days.
As is the case of late, the Sky was very streaky throughout the game. They were down 21-14 after one quarter. They owned the third quarter 18-9. In the fourth quarter, they went more than five minutes while only scoring one point.
Kahleah led the Sky with 15 points. Ruthy Hebard had a double-double off the bench (14 points, 10 rebounds). Erica Wheelr paced the Sparks with 22 points. Amanda Zahui B. had 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The Sky lost the turnover battle (18-11), which is unusual for the Sky. They did edge LA in rebounds (43-38).
The Sparks showed a video tribute to long time star Candace Parker, who signed with the Sky in the offseason. Unfortunately, Parker is still out with an injury.
Picked by some to contend for the WNBA title this season, the Sky are now 2-7. They host the Indiana Fever on Wednesday. While it might be too early to call this a "must win" game for the Sky, it is pretty close. The Sky has two games with Indiana, followed by one with Minnesota. They need to win at least two of those games, because the soaring Connecticut Sun is their opponent after that stretch.
