Description

Tour of the historic Nathaniel Conklin House located in the heart of Babylon Village. Join us for a personal tour of the historic Nathaniel Conklin House located in the heart of Babylon Village. Hear some of the history of the Village, view the chimney stone that depicts the story of how Babylon got its name (it's like our very own Plymouth Rock!), and tour the nine rooms, each restored to represent a period in the house's history. Tour of the house and garden lasts approx. one hour and is kid-friendly. Please note there is a flight of stairs to reach the second floor. Masks are mandatory and space is limited. The Nathaniel Conklin House was built by Nat Conklin back in 1803 and moved to its current location in 1870 where it has underwent several changes in ownership. In 1989, the house was in danger of being torn down. A group of concerned citizens, together with the Village of Babylon, saved the house and it is now owned by the Village of Babylon. Run by a Steering Committee, the mission of the Nathaniel Conklin House is to bring forth culture, education and history for the betterment of our Village.
