Description
Yeah, most people survive it. But if everybody in the country gets infected, and the mortality rate is just 1%, that's 3 million dead; that leaves 2 1/2 million people to go.
When the virus was completely out of control, the people who WERE sick enough to require hospitalization were overwhelming the facilities we have to treat it, that also means people ill with other conditions didn't always have hospital beds available for them.
As the virus spreads, it mutates; there are already UK, South African, and Brazilian variants. Existing treatments and vaccines may not be as effective against variants, that's why there's a new flu shot every year.
People who have underlying conditions (overweight, diabetes, lung problems, etc.) make up a pretty good chunk of the population and are more likely to die; is your mom still lifting weights?
By the way, celebrities are usually pretty wealthy; they can afford the best treatments unavailable to working stiffs.
We also don't know what long-term medical problems COVID may cause. Viet Nam vets exposed to Agent Orange 50 years ago are still dying from its effects. Let's say for sake of argument that COVID affects fertility; people so affected would first be seeing doctors now, saying "we've been trying, but my wife can't conceive".
Your simplistic arguments simply show that you're simple.
