On this walking tour, our expert guide will provide insights and put things in context as they take you around the downtown and throughout the decades in order to help locals and visitors understand how Detroit’s history shaped where we are today, connect with what’s happening now and be inspired to take an active role in creating the city’s future. Tour Discussion Points include: Downtown’s assets from architecture to cultural gemsBrief History of Detroit including indigenous history and racist policies that shaped where we are todayDiscussion of Detroit’s challenges including population loss and blightOverview of some of Downtown’s innovative and impactful projects and small businessesLocation’s highlighted include: Campus Martius ParkSpirit of DetroitParadise Valley DistrictCapitol ParkSmall businesses like Spectacles, Detroit is the New Black and House of Pure VinREGISTERING: These tour tickets are donation-based to support our non-profit mission; however, please contact us at [email protected] if you are unable to pay. If RSVPing for more than 1 person, please register 1 donation ticket and each additional person under "Additional Tickets if RSVPing for more than 1 person" COVID PRECAUTIONS: Masks are required to attend this experience. In order to adhere to social distancing guidelines, we will be utilizing Zoom technology throughout the tour. Please plan to bring a fully charged phone and a pair of headphones compatible with your mobile device. CHECK-IN: The tour begins promptly at the start time. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of the tour and check in with your guide who will be wearing a blue Detroit Experience Factory t-shirt. PARKING: There is a parking lot at the starting point or street parking nearby. Use of public transportation is also encouraged as an alternative. TICKETING: No need to print your ticket. Arrive a few minutes early to check-in and give the guide your name. That's it! If your plans change and you can't make it, please cancel your booking to open up your spot to another participant.
