Coco Village Avis - Ah, the potty and the (well messy!) Adventures of learning cleanliness. Quite a step isn't it?!? It often happens between 18 months and 3 years and often remains in the memory of the parents as the most delicate step. The parents at Coco Village still agree on the point that mealtime sometimes has nothing to envy to the training for the small pot! But no matter the accidents and repeated laundry, like all the key stages of baby life, you'll be impatient, it won't always be easy either, but you'll get there! Maybe you will even be nostalgic for diaper changes and damage after that ... Ah the contradictions of parents' life ...! Is it your turn? How do you proceed? What do you need? The parents of the Coco Village team share their experiences on Coco Village Avis and their conclusions to help you master the subtle art of learning cleanliness. READY OR NOT READY? SIGNS TO WATCH First of all, the essential condition for cleanliness learning to be a success (not a success, we hear an experience that does not create frustrations for parents and children) is that baby must be physically ready. Your coconut/casserole should master walking and be able to sit comfortably. Extra points if he/she can go down and up pants and training panties all alone ... it will save you time and energy. Most children will also begin to tell you when they have taken care of themselves or will be taken for a diaper change. Fill in several of these boxes? Then it's probably a good time to get started! PRECISELY WHERE DO WE START? One step at a time! Start by introducing the pot. Find the right place to place it - ideally close to a toilet that your coconut will use once the small pot is conquered. Let him/her become familiar with this new accessory, starting by letting him / her sit on it, even when dressed. Then on each occasion, repeat the magic word of your choice to identify the pot and remind it of its users so that it assimilates the information and makes the association. As soon as he/she has a good idea of what the pot is for, you can introduce a progressive routine. A good way is to start by offering to spend time on the pot in the morning, before putting on your clothes, and/or in the evening, before bathing for example. If you are lucky and he/she does something, congratulate him/her. After several days/weeks of success and regular fitness, you can add opportunities by offering the benefits of “potty breaks”. It's going well! Be patient. It may take longer than you hope, or it may take much less (and yes, it happens too!). Remember to give them responsibility by letting them freely wear “big” underwear as soon as you can (just remember to keep your mop close by during these 'free' times!).
