Nobody should feel marginalized. Unfortunately our two major parties have become polarized. Mutual hatred has become the new trend. Our political system is now decadent. It is taking the form of “winners take all, and losers can go to hell.” Under Trump, the Democrats were in hell, and under Biden the Republicans are in hell. Let’s free our cities and towns from this madness. Let’s concentrate on making them more democratic and more tolerant. Let’s start with Seattle. Our elected officials don’t like to be told what to do. They don’t like people who introduce initiatives with which they don’t agree. This is understandable but not democratic. We need greater collaboration between our elected officials and the people. Political power should be service-oriented. It must seek the common good. This means that it must listen to the people. Consequently, we propose the following idea. Today we need to gather 22,000 and 33,000 signatures to introduce a new initiative. Those numbers are much too high. Signature gathering requires a lot of work. Ordinary people have no time and no money to get involved. This is why change is so difficult to introduce. Let’s reduce those numbers to 4,000 and 6,000 respectively. If you agree with us, please take the time to send us an email. We need to recruit as many members as we can, so that when we are ready to act, we’ll have enough members to meet the requirements. For our first initiative we will need 33,000 signatures.
