Homebuyers are getting advice from their pets as they tour homes for sale. In a recent study, one-third of prospective homeowners surveyed said that they consider their pets in making this major decision in their lives. Most Americans want to make our furry friends feel at home, so it makes sense that they have a say in this investment. You might think it’s impossible to tell if your cat or dog likes an abode but many canines and felines have preferences about where they live. After all, with such good taste, it would be silly not to consider their advice. More women often bring a pet along when looking for houses. In a survey by Allen Home, 24 percent of women bring their pets, while only 15 percent of men brought theirs. In a separate survey, the respondents said that 43% of households are willing to move to better accommodate their pets. Millennials are said to put their pet’s needs on top of their list when shopping for a home. According to American Pet Products Association, 73 percent of millennials currently own a pet. Furthermore, 89 percent of this specific demographic who bought a home owns a pet. Some millennials have to give up living in a condo for the sake of their pet. Although they love living in the downtown area because of convenience, they miss spending time with their pets. Thus the need to buy a single-family home. Because pets are of priority, millennials would pass up what seems to be a perfect home if it does not meet the needs of their furry friends. Some of the amenities they look for are outdoor space, a backyard, or even just a park within walking distance. Another plus factor is a pet-friendly restaurant and a pet supply store nearby. For affluent home buyers, they would look for a grooming station, pet shower room, higher fence so their pets could not jump out and other pets could not jump in. Home is where the heart is, and we want our four-legged friends to feel like they are home. So, do not forget these furry friends when you are househunting.
