The mission of Digital Pioneers Academy (DPA) is to develop the next generation of innovators. We prepare students to meet or exceed the highest academic standards, while cultivating the strength of character necessary to both graduate from four-year colleges and thrive in 21st century careers. DPA will ultimately be a college preparatory middle and high school (6th-12th grade) for students from Ward 7 and 8 in Washington, DC. Beginning with sixth grade and adding one grade per year, DPA will provide a unique, personalized educational experience that integrates best practices from schools across the country, preparing students to be innovators and active citizens in our technology-driven world. Qualifications Over 18 with reliable transportation to locations in Wards 7 and 8 A passion for education and ability to present information with families in a professional manner Flexible availability including some mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends Familiarity with D.C’s diverse communities with a focus on Wards 7 and 8 Great communication skills Comfortable speaking to new people Strong collaborative skills Basic knowledge of computer programs and phone apps Working Conditions Environment: Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, etc.), and sometimes in an office environment. Community Engagement Ambassadors are exposed to weather and temperature changes depending on the seasons. Exposure to moderate and loud noise, seasonal temperatures, dust and wind. Physical Demands: Community Engagement Ambassadors are physically active and must be able to lift at least 40 pounds. In addition, this job requires continuous standing and/or walking outdoors in minimal shade, stooping, crouching, kneeling, squatting, and twisting. Work Schedule/Logistics: The working hours vary according to the needs of Digital Pioneers Academy. Work days include weekdays and weekends as needed for recruitment and enrollment efforts. Community Engagement Ambassadors must have a car or their own transportation to carry out and complete requested assignments. They must also wear a DPA shirt (provided) and khaki or dress pants. Compensation: Community Engagement Ambassadors will be Independent Contractors with a start date in early June 2021 until August 2021. Enrollment Ambassadors will be paid $20 per hour.
