Man's Leg Impaled On Metal Object; 'Life-Threatening' Injury

FLANDERS, NY — A man's leg was impaled on a metal object in Flanders Friday morning, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, the incident took place at 9:20 a.m. when the man, 47, was working at his home. When police arrived, they found the man, who was being tended to for a "severe life-threatening laceration" by others at the residence; a tourniquet was applied to his leg to stop the blood loss, authorities said. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment, police said. Southampton Town police officers responded along with Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance.
