Cockatiel Hen - special needs

Events

Akron PA

Description

This little lady was born without a properly formed top beak, meaning she cannot eat seeds properly. She needs 2 formula feedings per day - usually Noon and 5 PM. She grazes on brown rice, millet, barley, peas, corn, broccoli, spinach, swiss chard - but doesn't eat enough "chop" to fully sustain herself. She will also need to have her bottom beak trimmed approximately once per month (using a good quality fingernail clippers) since it does not have a top beak to grind it down. She is a beautiful, sassy, independent girl but since she was hand-fed she is still tame and enjoys having her head scritched. Her favorite spot is on a curtain rod, looking outside. We named her "Turtle Chen", because as a chick she looked like a turtle and chen means tiny in German. Rehoming fee is $100 to insure good intentions; she will come with a unopened bag of baby formula and a good fingernail clippers to use on her beak.
