Synopsis: In unexplored Colombia, the Plains appear as a paradise, an amazing experience in which the region’s enigmatic natural beauty is revealed in song and verse. This land, which inspires the ranchers’ work songs, declared part of Colombia’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, is the aural universe of Grammy Award-winning rancher Cholo Valderrama, who fills theaters around the world with this fiercely vibrant culture comprised of music, landscapes, horses, and riders, the grandeur of which remains unknown to many urban Colombians. Language: Spanish with English subtitles. Event: My father, Cholo Valderrama, is the narrator and principal figure of this documentary by Colombian director Talia Osorio. The film is successful in showcasing the beauty of the land and culture I grew up in, which is the inspiration for all my artistic work. The connection with nature, its animals, and its cultural heritage shown in the film is intrinsically related to my practice. I'm excited to share this sentiment with the NYC public through the eyes of the people in this documentary. Refreshements will be served. Free, open to the public, and family-friendly.
