MILFORD, MA — Milford Regional Medical Center this week received a high rating from a group that assesses hospitals across the nation. The hospital was one of only 12 hospitals in Massachusetts to receive the highest rating. Here's more from a Milford Regional press release: Milford Regional Medical Center received an overall hospital quality star rating of 5 Stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Milford Regional was one of 455 hospitals out of 4,586 across the United States to achieve a 5-star rating, and was one of 12 hospitals to receive 5-stars in Massachusetts. "This is a testament to the extraordinarily high quality, safe care provided by the team of providers and caregivers at MRMC," stated Bert Thurlo-Walsh, MM, RN, CPHQ, Vice President and Chief Quality Officer. "We are proud to be among a select number of hospitals nationwide to be recognized forquality and safety," says Edward J. Kelly, President and CEO of Milford Regional. "This achievement is a reflection of the commitment our employees have to providing unparalleled care to our community." The CMS hospital quality star rating program uses measures from the following categories to determine an overall star rating: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, timely and effective care, and efficient use of medical imaging. CMS developed the star rating program to help consumers choose highly rated hospitals based on comparing data on the CMS hospital compare website.
