County Reports 83 New COVID Cases, 1 Death As Hospitalizations Fall To 2021 Low

By Editor, Times of San Diego June 4, 2021 San Diego County public health officials reported 83 new COVID-19 cases and one death Thursday, as the number of hospitalized patients fell to its lowest point this year. With those numbers, the local toll since the pandemic began increased to 280,429 cases and 3,761 deaths. A man in his 70s who had underlying medical conditions died Saturday. Of the 13,323 tests reported Thursday, 0.6% returned positive as the two-week rolling average stayed at 0.7%. Hospitalizations due to COVID dipped to 97, with 34 patients requiring intensive care. That's only the second time this year the number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations has dropped below 100. The county also reported no community outbreaks Thursday, for a total of 10 in the past seven days linked to 55 cases. San Diego County set a goal of fully vaccinating 2.1 million local residents.
