PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma woman was arrested early Friday on suspicion of selling fentanyl, police said. A Petaluma police K-9 officer was on routine patrol around 12:50 a.m. at 5th and G streets when he approached a driver for a suspected traffic violation. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Krysta Schoeneweis, was found to be on pretrial release for prior drug sales so officers did a search of her car, Petaluma police Sgt. Matthew Parnow said. "The search yielded a large amount of cash and over an ounce of suspected fentanyl," Parnow said. "The fentanyl was found in a hidden compartment inside the vehicle." Schoeneweis was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale and transportation of narcotics for sale, Parnow said.
