Description

INDIO, CA — A cluster of tamarisk trees burned near Indio Friday before firefighters were able to gain the upper hand. The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:21 a.m. in the area of Washington Street and Coyote Song Way and continued burning for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. A half-dozen engine crews responded and encountered several tamarisk trees ablaze within an area measuring approximately 30 feet by 30 feet. No structures were damaged. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
