Provide exceptional service to the equestrian program, the horses, and the members of The Ford Field & River Club. Responsible for upkeep of the horses, equestrian facilities, paddocks, and trails. Ensuring that all members and guest have a first-class experience while at our facility. Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for feeding, haying, cleaning stalls and turning out/brining in of all the horses in a timely fashion. • Responsible for keeping the facility, arena, facility grounds and trails presentable at all times. • This position requires early mornings, late evening, weekends, holidays and on call availability. • Responsible for scheduling hay and shaving deliveries in a timely fashion so our supplies do not become low. • Able to safely use heavy equipment such as a Bob Cats, tractor, backhoe, and other large equipment. • Able to safely use chain saws, blowers, power tools and any other small hand tools. • Must be able to climb ladders, knowledgeable about paints and stains and the correct way to apply them. • Must be able to drive a truck and trailer. • Responsible for keeping all the equipment clean and in good working order. • Responsible for communicating with fellow staff members, managers and the Equestrian Director on any horse related health issue, member request, schedule change in a timely fashion. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of precision. • Responsible for the helping with bathing, grooming, and putting any additional blankets and or fly gear on the horses. • Responsible for administering medication; topically and orally. • Ensures the stalls are mucked out several times a day. • Assists with the maintenance of the health of the animals, including routine veterinary services, farrier visits and handling emergency situations. • Assist with emergency evacuation and offsite events. Qualifications and Experience: • 3-5 years’ experience working in a stable or ranch or equivalent. • Stall cleaning and feeding of horses. • Able to drive a truck and trailer. • Ability to handle and control high strung horses. • Able to use hand tools, small and large equipment • Detail ordinated and high standards for cleanliness. • Ability to walk 10 to 20 miles a day. • Experience in a Customer Service and team environment. • Requires a valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle report. • Candidates must have a flexible schedule – morning & evening shifts, weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements: The job requires constant walking, standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts 75 pounds, occasionally up to 85 pounds. Must have hand usage to groom horses, power tools and other barn equipment. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation in a noisy environment. Must be able to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and possibly overtime.
