Description
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst's Rock the Block party is on for September, but organizers are not including food tents and the family fun area.
Still, they promised on their Facebook page that "you'll be dancing in the street with something cold in your hand!"
The Elmhurst City Centre is holding the event Sept. 10 and 11. The food tents and family fun area are going away because of the need for increased space and social distancing, a city memo said. Because of the pandemic, the event was canceled last year.
On Monday, the City Council is expected to vote on whether to approve the public event. Organizers are asking for assistance from several city departments with staging the festivities.
The event's marketing message includes suggestions to stop for lunch or dinner before or after the event. Elmhurst City Centre is working with area restaurants to provide takeout and carryout Rock the Block specials, according to the city memo.
