UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Two women were slashed by a 23-year-old man just before 2 a.m. Friday morning after an argument broke out close to the West 96th Street subway station on the Upper West Side, according to police. The attack happened on a northbound 2 train just before it got to the 96th Street station after the man made comments to the two women, according to police. An NYPD spokesperson told Patch the 23-year-old possibly used a homophobic slur in the exchange and asked why "they dressed like boys." The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime. One of the women pulled out a knife, but the man grabbed it out of her hands and slashed her in the forehead and wrist, according to police. The other woman went to help her friend and stop the attack and was slashed in the ear. The women fled the train at the 96th Street station, police said. NYPD added that one of the women was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The 23-year-old was later arrested and identified as Bronx resident Khleo Sinne, according to police.
