SUMMARY of POSITION: The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility; including physical building structure; all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment. This individual ensures the upkeep of guest areas and maintains an attractive hotel. Coordination with department heads and General Manager to ensure guest and employee safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates and promotes a 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests and employees. Offers guest assistance. When a guest asks for assistance, the maintenance engineer either provides the assistance immediately or immediately contacts someone who can, and follows up to ensure the guest's need is met. Performs repairs listed on work orders and maintains the work orders as a record of work completed. Tracks and records repairs. Makes repairs in a timely and professional manner. -Basic knowledge of skilled trade activities in plumbing, carpentry, electrical and mechanical work and painting. -Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment. -Skill in the use of a variety of skilled trade tools (including both hand and electric tools). -Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, if needed. Maintain front entrance area, parking lot and/or garage, and street entrance in a clean and presentable manner. -Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the property, including the grounds. -Follow procedures that ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc., replenishes supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimizes waste. -Assists with housekeeping as necessary. -Ability to move and work throughout the hotel for the duration of shift. -Ability to perform tasks required bending, stooping and kneeling. -Ability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 100 lbs. -Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with the ability to extend arms, oftentimes overhead. -Ability to grasp, lift or carry items weighing up to 75 lbs., waist high. -Any other duties directed by the General Manager QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE: -To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: -Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the functions of the job. LANGUAGE SKILLS: -Ability to communicate effectively with guests, clients, and co-workers in a professional manner; o Bi-lingual skills are a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: -Must be able to perform basic math functions. Job Type: Full-time Pay: Up to $16.50 per hour
