Description

Maintenance Technician Our client provides a wide range of quality chemical products for application in many industries. They carry acids, alkalis, coagulants, flocculants, and other water treatment products from top suppliers, both domestic and international. They also contract with other companies to custom blend and deliver their proprietary products. Job Description The Maintenance Technician performs equipment installation and maintenance activities pertaining to the facility, company-owned assets deployed at customer locations, and the fleet of vehicles (tractors and tankers) to enable high utilization of equipment while complying with regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, and local regulations). The successful candidate will be able to perform yard activities and proactively identify and execute tasks without direction from a supervisor to ensure efficient operation in the yard. Maintenance Activities: • Perform fleet inspections and validate inspections performed by contractors and vendors. • Perform and document facility inspections. • Manage inspections performed by contractors and corrective maintenance on tractors. • Perform plumbing, installation, and maintenance of client-owned tanks and associated equipment deployed at customer locations. Assist in pump out of product at customer sites. • Perform equipment assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of process equipment on tankers including installation of valves, fittings, hoses, pumps, instruments, and other equipment to enable safe and efficient product transport and offloading. • Perform installation and corrective/preventative maintenance activities pertaining to equipment located in the yard and warehouse such as tanks, pumps, blowers, agitators, filters, instruments, piping, valves, fittings, hoses, and supports. • Perform basic welding for structural supports and brackets. Fabricate (job layout, materials list, assembly, installation) as necessary for equipment installation in the yard or on tankers. • Proactively identify and perform tasks to maintain equipment life span and improve appearance in the yard without being directed by a supervisor. • Schedule, coordinate and manage contract maintenance activities for tankers, tractors (power units), and yard equipment. • Assist in creating and managing critical Spare Parts and the routine Preventative Maintenance task list. Purchase and manage inventory of equipment and supplies for maintenance and operational activities following company purchasing policy and procedures (request/approval, expense report tracking). • Perform housekeeping activities for the yard and warehouse. • Monitor utilities (air, water, gas, etc.) performance and perform corrective and preventative maintenance. Skills and experience: • Minimum of (3) years of maintenance experience involving process equipment (pumps, valves, piping, hoses, etc). • Basic knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations. • Experience in assembly, installation, and operation of process equipment used in transfers including centrifugal pumps, air diaphragm pumps, valves, pipe, fittings, and hoses. • Mechanical aptitude and craft skills, including cutting, grinding, millwright skills (equipment & piping alignment, assembly and installation), PVC pipe installation, and minor structural supports. • Proficient in the use of hand tools, including drill, saw, circular grinder/cutting tool. • Must be able to meet all the requirements for respirator certification including any medical certifications and yearly re-certification with fit testing per OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.134 • Basic computer skills including e-mail, Internet usage, purchasing, and expense report system. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a work environment with handling and transport of inorganic corrosive chemicals. • Basic welding skills such as installing supports and mounting of miscellaneous equipment. • Fabrication experience, with the ability to layout the method, material, and end result for a job and execute accordingly. • Class A commercial driver’s license with HazMat endorsement and driving experience Pay rate: Up to $29/hr Depending on Skills and Experience Benefits: Retirement, Profit Sharing, 401k, Vacation, Sick Pay, Medical, Dental PrideStaff Portland is a locally owned and operated Staffing Agency.
