This may be an absolute long shot, but here it goes. I am in search of a young dog, ideally under 3 years old, with a limited learning history. I am looking for a successor to my current service animal, who is almost eleven years old, that I will train over the coming years before my current companion must be retired. I am a CPDT-KA with many years experience training service animals for others, participating in dog sports such as schutzhund, agility, and rally. I am specifically looking for a large breed dog because I require a counterbalancer while walking, and sometimes need to be helped off the floor or out of a chair. My preferred breeds are listed in the title, but I will absolutely consider others. My current service dog was a ‘rescue’ Aussie whom I acquired when he was 4 years old. He has been the most steady partner I could ask for, and I would love to find a similarly suited pup to ease the weight off my old man.
