We have openings throughout our residential and retail operations. Washes, rinses, sanitizes, organizes and stores all china, silverware, pots, utensils, etc. Performs general utility duties. Must demonstrate full comprehension of the Boston University Dining Services (Aramark) Employee handbook, as well as possess the ability to provide insight and direction as needed pertaining to the same with other Boston University Dining services employees. Also Perform other duties as related to dining services as assigned or requested by a manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following is a list of the principle on-going responsibilities that are necessary to accomplish the purpose of the job. • Operates the dish/pot machine including but not limited to: cleaning, emptying, and refilling machine and soap dispensers • “Catches” the dishes/silverware off of the conveyor belt, disposes the waste, and loads them onto the dish belt as well as keeps up with the “pace” of dishes, not letting them “pile” up • Sorts and puts away the small wares • Sweeps and mops designated areas • Various cleaning assignments during slow periods • Follows all safety and sanitation rules pertaining to dish room; including but not limited to completing logs • Takes out trash and operates dumpster Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing non-slip shoes, and the proper usage and changing of disposable kitchen gloves. • Ensures all proper sanitation methods are followed. • Wears proper uniform at all times, including hat, and apron. • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in proper repair. If not, notify management • Properly uses chemicals • Properly logs waste in the Lean Path system • Cleans the mop room • Cleans the dish room area, garbage areas and areas near and at conveyer belt • Reports all safety hazards to management • May be assigned other tasks as needed To do this kind of work, you must be able to: • Follow instructions • Able to speak, read, write and understand English preferred. • Lift 30-50 pounds • Communicate clearly and politely with students, employees, and management. • Deal calmly and professionally with situations • Know how to use all dish room equipment • Have good judgement. • Work in a fast paced “team manner” environment PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting, pushing, pulling, and walking. Physical Demands: Standing on feet during the whole shift. Lifting, pushing, pulling, and doing repetitive tasks. Working with hot and cold water, lifting 50 lb objects, and working with heavy machinery. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to communicate clearly and politely with staff, customers, and management.
