Able to keep pocket, have dynamic range and play impro when songs calls for an impro. Don't forget that drums is poliphonic instrument and playing cymbals louder than snare or bass drum or snare doesn't really shows entire spectrum of sounds of that magical instrument. Dark cymbals?
